Aftercare Guide: Getting the Most From Your Treatment

June 2025·5 min read

What you do after a professional skin treatment is just as important as the treatment itself. Follow these guidelines to protect your results.

Why Aftercare Matters

Professional skin treatments create a controlled response in the skin — whether that's stimulating collagen, accelerating cell turnover or clearing congestion. How you care for your skin in the days following treatment directly affects how well it heals and how long your results last.

General Aftercare Principles

  • Keep the skin clean and hydrated — use a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and a simple moisturiser
  • Apply SPF every morning without exception, even on cloudy days
  • Avoid active ingredients (retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C) for at least 48–72 hours post-treatment unless advised otherwise
  • Do not pick, scratch or exfoliate the skin while it is healing
  • Avoid heat — saunas, steam rooms, hot showers and intense exercise for 24–48 hours
  • Stay hydrated and support your skin from within

Treatment-Specific Advice

Specific aftercare instructions will be provided following your treatment at CLININK, tailored to the procedure you've had. For paramedical treatments such as MCA or Ink Camouflage, a more detailed aftercare protocol will be given and should be followed carefully to support healing and optimise results.

If you have any concerns during your recovery, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We're always happy to advise.

Building a Homecare Routine

A consistent homecare routine is the foundation of healthy skin. At CLININK, we recommend a routine based on your skin type and concerns — typically a gentle cleanser, targeted serum, moisturiser and SPF in the morning, with a retinoid or treatment product in the evening.

We'll guide you on the right products for your skin and how to introduce new actives gradually to avoid irritation.
